Candidates seek election to local school boards

Eatontown Board of Education

There are nine seats on the Board of Education, with four open.

Three, three-year terms and one, one-year unexpired term are up for election. The candidates for the three-year terms are incumbents John Schiels, of Copperfield Court, and Joseph Questore and Mark Kramer, both of Grant Avenue.

Challengers are Stacey Lastella, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Shannon Stoneham-Gaetano, of Alexandria Court, and Frank Cannella, of Irving Place. Running for the one, one-year expired term are Darlene Stoneham, of Buttonwood Avenue, and George Marcouiller, of Wall Street.

Long Branch Board of Education

There are nine seats on the Board of Education, with three open.

Three incumbents are running unopposed for three seats: Joseph E. Sirianni, Community Place, Rose M. Widdis, Hulick Avenue, and Violeta Peters, Wertheim Place.

Ocean Township Board

of Education

There are nine seats on the Board of Education, with three open. Four candidates are vying for the three seats, two incumbents and two challengers.

The incumbents are: James Wager, Lancaster Drive, and Arthur Mahoney, Oxford Drive. First-time candidates are Janet Surmonte, North Edgemere Drive, and George Sariotis, Pitney Street.

Shore Regional High School

District Board

There are 10 seats on the regional board, and three, three-year term seats open.

Two seats of the four West Long Branch representatives and one of the two Oceanport seats are up for grabs. The West Long Branch candidates, both incumbents who are running unopposed, are Ronald O’Neill and Russell T. Olivadotti.

The Oceanport incumbent is Tadeusz “Ted” Szczurek, who is currently board president. He is opposed by Mario Sciacca, of Oceanport.

West Long Branch Board

of Education

There are nine seats on the Board of Education and three, three-year term, and one, one-year unexpired term, are up for election. Four candidates altogether make this an uncontested race. Two incumbents: Edwin J. Hunter, Lloyd Avenue, and Kerry Kennedy, of Cooper Avenue, are running for three-year terms. Newcomers are Gregory T. Aikins, of South Arlene Drive, who is running for a three-year term, and Antoinette L. Chase, of Cedar Avenue, who is running for the one-year term.

School board elections will be held April 19.
