The Greater Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce will hold a business card exchange March 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Provident Bank, 1502 Route 35 south, Ocean. Admission is $5 per person. Stanley G. Soden, Long Branch, was recently nominated for reappointment to the state Council on Developmental Disabilities. The nomination was made by acting Gov. Richard J. Codey.

High Point Auto Insurance, Red Bank, in conjunction with 95.9 WRAT, is co-sponsoring the “Kids Who Rock” awards program which began Feb. 28 and runs 11 weeks. The program acknowledges children in Monmouth and Ocean counties who have done extraordinary things for the child’s family and community. “Kids” will recognize two children on-air each week, with each child receiving a prize and four tickets to an awards banquet in May. Dorothy P. Devenny, Rumson, was recently nominated for appointment to the Monmouth County Board of Taxation. The nomination was made by Acting Governor Richard J. Codey.

The direct marketing advertising agency, Jerry Roache Direct Inc., Shrewsbury, has announced Bayville resident David Feretich has joined the firm as art director. Prior to joining Roache, Feretich was employed at several New Jersey companies designing product packaging for the health, nutrition and research industries. He has been involved in the graphic design industry for approximately 20 years.

Circle Hyundai, Shrewsbury, was recently named by Hyundai Motor America to the Hyundai Board of Excellence — a national network of distinguished dealers — for the second consecutive year. The dealership achieved exceptional levels of sales and customer satisfaction during the past year, and only 81 of approximately 660 dealerships were recognized this year. The New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) - Monmouth/Ocean Chapter will hold a dinner meeting March 24 at 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Eatontown, Route 35 north and Industrial Way. Member Cheryl Pliskin, of Jest Notes & Baskets, Mount Laurel, will present “How to Make Networking Events Produce for You.” The cost is $40 for nonmembers and $35 for members, and reservations must be made March 18. The NJAWBO will sponsor its fifth annual “Salute to Women Leaders” luncheon March 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Crystal Plaza, 307 W. Northfield Road, Livingston. The luncheon corresponds with Women’s History Month during March. The featured speaker will be Mary S. Hartman, director of the Women’s Leadership Institute, Douglass College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick. The public is invited, and reservations are required. Commerce Bank, Cherry Hill, recently named Stephanie L. Hadam as vice president, commercial real estate lending. She will develop customized real estate lending solutions for commercial real estate clients throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties. A resident of North Long Branch, Hadam has more than 16 years of real estate lending experience and most recently served as an executive vice president at Progress Realty Advisors. She is a member of the Long Branch Planning Board, the New Jersey Apartment Association, and the Building Industry Association of New York City. She received her master of business administration degree from Monmouth University, West Long Branch.

Meridian Health announced that Kenneth W. Hitchner III, Rumson, has been appointed to its board of trustees. He is a partner and managing director of the Global Healthcare Practice Group at Goldman Sachs, an investment banking, securities and investment management firm. Hitchner served with the U.S. Navy with distinction as a naval aviator, serving two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf. He is also the recipient of a Navy Achievement Medal. Hitchner is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, and received a master’s in business administration from Columbia University, New York City, where he was awarded a merit fellowship. He and his wife, Leslie, are parents to three children. Meridian is comprised of Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, Ocean Medical Center, Brick, and Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

The Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, announced that Mitchell Weiss, M.D., has been named chairman of radiation oncology. He joined the medical center in 2003, after completing his residency at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Weiss’ expertise is in intensity modulated radiation therapy. He has had his research published by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics. Weiss received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and is board certified in radiation oncology. His memberships include the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Oncology Group.

Attorney Richard D. Schibell, West Long Branch, was recently nominated for reappointment to the board of trustees of The College of New Jersey, Ewing.

J. Richard Goldstein, M.D., Ocean, was recently nominated for appointment to the State of New Jersey Medical Care Availability Task Force. Both nominations were filed by acting Gov. Richard J. Codey.
