Management of rental properties criticized

Thank you so much for publicizing the $1 million fines levied against Elliot Koplitz for fire code violations in the city of Long Branch.

Kudos also goes to Mayor Adam Schneider and Fire Official Kevin Hayes Sr. for their strong stance regarding student/occupant safety.

I live across the street from a Koplitz “tenement” and cannot even begin to voice my displeasure of having his ownership in our local community.

As a townhome board, too many complaints have been called into the city’s police department. From having a frat party to an upward of 300 people (illegally), to having his tenants urinate on our porches and fist fighting in the streets, we have grown tired of his inability to manage his income properties. Once the summer renters come, you can forget about a peaceful night on our street.

That is a shame! I can guarantee that Mr. Koplitz would not stand for such behavior on his street, so why do it to lifelong community residents?

I can only hope that these fines stand and that people take responsibility for their actions.
