Ronald E. Earley Sr.

Mr. Earley, 76, of Lexington, S.C., and formerly Sea Bright, died Nov. 6 at home. Born in Woodbury Heights, he resided in Sea Bright for 50 years prior to moving to Lexington in July. Following retirement, he was a crossing guard in Sea Bright. Prior to that, he was a civil engineer at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, retiring in 1970. He served honorably with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Sea Bright United Methodist Church. He was an ex-chief at the Sea Bright Fire Department, and an ex-captain at the Sea Bright First Aid Squad, from 1976-77 in both departments. He founded the Family Fire Safety Program, and was a Republican Committeeman for the 2nd District, Sea Bright. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothea Covert Earley in 2000. He is survived by a son, Ronald Earley Jr. of South Carolina; four daughters, Dawn Rose of Red Bank, Sheila Schwarz of Lexington, S.C., Rhonda Castello of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Christine Sanders of Eatontown; a brother, Kenneth Early of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Nov. 12 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. A Firemen’s service will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 8:30 p.m. Committal Services with Military Honors will be Nov. 17 at Farmingdale Evergreen Cemetery, Howell. John Michael LaManna

Mr. LaManna, 79, of Little Silver, died Nov. 3 at home. He was born and raised in West Brighton, N.Y. He was a professional meat cutter at A & P, Woodbridge, retiring after 28 years’ service. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct, American Campaign, European African-Middle Eastern Campaign, and World War II Victory Medals. He attended church regularly at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Asbury Park Mount Carmel Post No. 1333, and the Italian-American Club of Ocean. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and Yankees. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Anthony LaManna. He is survived by his wife, Inger; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and George Economy of Rumson, Karen and David Mangino of Staten Island, N.Y., and Judy LaManna of Long Branch; and four grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown. James L. Duncan Sr.

Mr. Duncan, 68, of Naples, Fla., died Oct. 26 at his son’s home in Weston, Fla. Born in Long Branch, he resided in Eatontown for 25 years before moving to Naples in 1993. Mr. Duncan was a retired route salesman at Drake’s Bakery, where he was employed 25 years. He was a former member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red Bank. He was a former member of the Teamsters, and was a Pop Warner football coach. Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 43 yeas, Carol Spreen Duncan; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Lily Duncan of Naples, Fla., and James and Diane Duncan Jr. of Weston, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Michael Matthews of Brielle; and four grandchildren. Interment took place at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. The Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, was in charge of arrangements.
