Injuries in two separate accidents

WEST LONG BRANCH — A pedestrian was struck by a car and injured at the intersection of Route 36 and Broadway, according to police.

In another accident in front of St. Jerome’s Church on Wall Street, two women were slightly injured.

Police said Daniel Nunez, 43, of Long Branch, was walking across Route 36 at Broadway when the traffic light changed while he was midway across the road. Gerard Murphy, 37, of Long Branch, who was eastbound on Route 36, struck Nunez, police said.

Nunez suffered a leg injury and mild abrasions to his arm and hand and was taken to Monmouth Medical Center for treatment, according to police.

No charges were filed in connection with the accident.

In the accident on Wall Street, police said Mary Ruddy, 72, of Long Branch, was turning into the driveway at St. Jerome’s when she was rear-ended by a car driven by Dorothy Krug, 87, of West Long Branch. Both cars were eastbound on Wall Street, according to police. Krug suffered a bruised arm and her passenger, Anna Vasilova, complained of slight neck pain, but the two refused to be transported to the hospital, police said.
