The Poricy Park Trail Run, in honor of Poricy Park’s 35th anniversary, and presented by the Poricy Park Citizens Committee, will be held Oct. 2. The 5K run/walk through the trails of scenic Poricy Park in Middletown will start at 10:30 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Preservation of Poricy Park.

The Central Jersey Saints 14U baseball team is looking for a catcher for a Saturday and Sunday fall league. The team has already qualified for the 2005 national qualifying tournament in Delaware. Serious and dedicated players with experience as a catcher can call Bob Berardi at (732) 525-2917.

A co-ed one-pitch softball tournament will be held Sept. 26 in the Leonardo section of Middletown. Entry fee is $250.

The Bayshore Classic 5K Race and Half-Mile Family Fun Walk is open to runners of all ages and will be held Sept. 18 in the Bayshore Community Hospital rear parking lot. The 5K race begins at 9:30 a.m., with the fun walk to follow at 10:15 a.m. The fee for both events for ages 12 and up is $18, if preregistered by Sept. 6, and $23 after Sept. 6. The fee for anyone 11 or under is $8 by Sept. 6, and $10 thereafter. All preregistered participants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt, while all postregistrants will receive a short-sleeve T-shirt, while supplies last.
