UNI thanks National Night Out supporters

The United Neighbors Inc. (UNI) organization, along with the Long Branch Police Department, would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the businesses and establishments for their generous donations and support during our annual National Night Out Against Crime on Aug. 3. This was our seventh annual event, and with each year, many local businesses have helped make it a complete success by donating their time and services.

Many thanks to each individual who came out to support our cause and who became aware of the many programs Long Branch has to offer. It gave everyone the opportunity to get acquainted with his or her neighbors and the officers who are given the sometimes difficult task of patrolling our streets for a safer, secure community.

Since 1984, the National Association of Town Watch National Night Out campaign has grown to involve more than 9,500 communities and 32 million people from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities and United States military bases worldwide. The purpose of this program is to develop and to demonstrate comprehensive strategies, and provides technical assistance to communities to reduce crime and the demand for drugs in our neighborhood through the coordination of law enforcement, public and private agencies, and the residents of our town. Your generosity has made it possible for United Neighbors Inc. and the Long Branch Police Department to promote a safer, more caring community.

On behalf of the members of United Neighbors Inc. and the City of Long Branch, we thank you again for your contributions and support, and we look forward to working together next year for our eighth annual National Night Out Against Crime.

      Ronald G. Cox

      president
