LONG BRANCH — A city police officer suffered a dislocated shoulder when he attempted to arrest a man from Glassboro last week.
On Sept. 3 at approximately 9:33 p.m., police officers Christopher Grant, Brendan Cahill and Stanley Eskridge observed what they believed to be individuals engaged in drug activity in the vicinity of Liberty Street and Central Place, according to Detective Lt. Bruce Johantgen.
Johantgen said the officers observed a narcotics transaction and approached one of the suspects to further investigate the situation.
The suspect allegedly ignored the officers and attempted to flee the scene when the officers attempted to place him under arrest, according to Johantgen. He said the man resisted and assaulted the officers.
Cahill was transported to the emergency department at Monmouth Medical Center and was treated for a dislocated shoulder, according to reports.
Anthony T. Oblines, 31, was arrested and charged with obstructing the administration of law, tampering with evidence, aggravated assault on a police officer and causing physical injury to a public servant.
Oblines also was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Wall, police said.
Bail was set by the municipal court judge at $50,000 with no 10 percent option.
Oblines was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township, according to reports.
