OCEAN TOWNSHIP — The death of an Ocean Township dog remains a mystery.

On Sept. 5, Michael Baggs, of Ampere Avenue, found his three-year-old golden retriever shot to death in the middle of the street at approximately 5:15 p.m, according to Detective Lt. Antonio Amodio.

Amodio said the department responded to the scene after a resident of the neighborhood called and said a loud gunshot was heard followed by the yelping of a dog.

After the preliminary investigation, Amodio said it appears that the dog died from the gunshot wound.

He said the department has no leads and that anyone with any information about the death of the dog should call Detective Joseph Pangaro at (732) 531-1428.
