Dennis comes to the Tribe after a season in which he was the third leg on the national high school record-breaking 4x1-mile relay, which took second at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships (NSIC). He also captured the New Jersey Group III cross country title in addition to his eighth-place run at the N.J. Cross Country Meet of Champions. Dennis also clocked a 12:39 over the Van Cortland Park, N.Y., cross country course at the Manhattan Invitational, taking second in his section. He has a personal record of 4:20.28 in the outdoor 1,600 (meters), and has also run 9:25 as a junior in the 3,200.
"We’re very excited about Rob," Gibby said. "He comes from a great background. After this cross country season, we feel he can contribute immediately to the squad."

The Hobart and William Smith College’s sailing team finished second yesterday in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association North American Team Race Championship.
HWS (Cascade Locks, Ore.) finished with the same 11-6 record as the first-place team from St. Mary’s (Md.) College, but the Seahawks won the title based on a head-to-head victory over HWS on the final day of racing.
Representing the college was skipper senior Ed Norton (Tabor Academy/Fair Haven). HWS finished the first day of sailing with a 5-1 record to earn a spot in the winners round. On Monday during the second day of sailing, HWS posted a 6-1 record in the first round robin and a 4-3 record in the second round robin to take a regatta-best 10-4 mark into the final day of racing.
The round of four racing saw HWS defeat Dartmouth College (Hanover, N.H.) but lose to St. Mary’s and Southern California, slipping back into a tie with St. Mary’s. It’s the second time HWS has tied for first place in an ICSA Championship event but fell to second on a tie-breaker, squaring with Charleston in the 2002 Sloop North Americans.
