Area residents named to
boards at reorganization
Area residents named to The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders recently met in Freehold Borough to reorganize the county government for 2004. Superior Court Judge Lawrence M. Lawson administered the oath of office to the recently re-elected Freeholder Theodore J. Narozanick. County Clerk Claire French assisted in the ceremony, and presented Narozanick with a framed copy of the official election certification. The freeholders once again selected Freeholder Harry Larrison Jr., of Ocean Grove, to serve as director and presiding officer. Freeholder Thomas J. Powers, Wall Township, will serve as deputy director for 2004. Freeholder Edward J. Stominski, Eatontown, was assigned administration of Monmouth County Justice and Parks. William M. Kinney, Eatontown, and Edward A. Reilly Jr., Ocean Township, were reappointed assistant county counsels for one-year terms. Timothy J. Smith, of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, was reappointed county fire marshal for a three-year term, and to the Construction Board of Appeals for a four-year term. Paul Kiernan Jr., of Long Branch, was reappointed as a citizen-member to the county Planning Board for a three-year term. Fred M. Brody, Long Branch, was reappointed to the county Transportation Council for a three-year term. Eatontown Fire Dept. receives $80,338 grant The Eatontown Fire Department recently received a grant in the amount of $80,338 for fire operations and firefighter safety. The grant was part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. The grant recipients were announced by Michael D. Brown, undersecretary of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness and Response. The 121 grants made to fire departments will help fund the purchase of fire-fighting equipment, support firefighter health and safety programs, enhance emergency medical services programs, and conduct fire prevention and safety programs. Liberty Tax Service opens Long Branch office The firm of Liberty Tax Service has announced the opening of a new branch, at 620 Broadway, Long Branch.
