Monmouth announces Barnett Award winners

Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, has announced that Long Branch resident Veronica Langley-Stephens has received its Dr. Lester A. Barnett Nurse of the Month Award for May. Langley-Stephens is a charge nurse on the surgical/medical unit, and joined Monmouth 16 years ago.

She received her registered nursing degree at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. She currently serves on the professional practice committee at Monmouth.

The medical center also announced that Asbury Park resident Zora Railey has been named its Employee of the Month for May. A licensed practical nurse, she was co-winner of the annual Ocean Primary Care Excellence in Care LPN Award designed to promote patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and teamwork at Monmouth.

Lynne McGrath, Long Branch, was named Employee of the Month for June. An office manager for both the departments of performance improvement, and public relations and marketing, McGrath was recently praised for performing the Heimlich maneuver on a co-worker who was choking during lunch.

Prior to joining Monmouth Medical, she worked at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 13 years. She began at Monmouth Medical as an administrative support staff member in pediatrics and moved to the finance department prior to taking on her current position.

Monmouth Beach resident Kathleen McKee was named the winner of the Barnett Nurse of the Month Award for June. McKee is a cardiac care nurse in the cardiac laboratory and for the Joel Opatut Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program.

She joined Monmouth in 1980 at its intensive care unit, and then as a critical care educator. Following a four-year departure, she returned to the center in 1990 as an ICU nurse until 2001, when she joined cardiology services. McKee is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Monmouth also announced that Jon P. Salisbury, M.D., has joined its medical and dental staff. Salisbury has served as president and founder of Visiting Physician Services, P.C., Eatontown, for the past eight years. A resident of the Leonardo section of Middletown, he has been the district medical officer for the Middletown school system since 1993.
