Meridian Health System will be offering a free golf clinic for all levels of expertise, from beginners to more experienced golfers, on May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Twin Brooks Golf Center in Tinton Falls. Registration is now being accepted for the 20th annual Liberty-to-Liberty America’s Memorial Triathlon scheduled for May 25. Festivities get under way at approximately 6:30 a.m. at Battery Park, New York City, with the singing of the National Anthem. Triathletes then swim 1,500 meters in the Hudson River, bike 1.5 miles, and take a ferry to Atlantic Highlands. Racers will cycle 61 miles from Atlantic Highlands through Middletown and Colts Neck to end at the foot of the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. The Peninsula Eagles ’92-’93 girls’ soccer team will hold open tryouts for the fall season on May 31 and June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Monmouth Park fields on Port Au Peck Ave. in Oceanport. Aerials Gymnastics, Eatontown, finished second in the JOGA Level B state tournament, where more than 20 teams qualified. The team had a great competition and took home many individual state titles. Alex DeCanio took first place in the all-around as well as beam and bars in the 8-11 group. Bridget Bier shared the state title on bars with teammate DeCanio, and also finished fifth in the all-around. Jazmine Guzman took first place on beam in the 13-year-old age group, as well as finishing second on vault and third in the all-around. Rebecca Green finished third all-around, and Danielle Zuppe finished fourth all-around, including third on beam. Alyssa Aaron finished fourth on beam and Samantha Aiello finished fifth on vault. Katelyn Smith finished fifth on both beam and floor. Other contributing team members include Katie O’Reilly, Julie Antenucci, Katelyn Cunningham, Amanda Cash and Jessica Centanni. Aerials Level B team had a successful season, finishing its undefeated season with a second place in the state.

The Mid-New Jersey Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is looking or cyclists and volunteers to participate in this year’s annual MS Coast the Coast Bike Tour. The tour begins at Sandy Hook and runs down the New Jersey coast. Cyclists can choose from three different tours (25, 50 and 170 miles) on May 17 and 18 (25- and 50-mile tours begin and end on May 17; 170-miler begins on May 17 and finishes on May 18). Cyclists collect pledges for completing the course. This money goes toward funding research and local client programs for people with MS. Volunteers the day of the bike tour will help with sign-in, refreshment stands and organization of the event. A new U12 girls’ soccer team is forming for the upcoming fall season in the Monmouth County area. The team is looking for self-motivated girls who want to move up to the next level. This team is being created to offer the opportunity for such girls to train and compete at a higher level.
