Four apply for board seat
EATONTOWN — Four people have applied for the vacancy on the Board of Education created by the resignation of Michael McDonnell, who has moved out of town.
The member hopefuls presented their credentials to the board at its April 28 meeting, they are Kevin Gonzalez, of 4 Surrey Lane, a former board member who lost re-election in the school election April 15 by only two votes; Cheryl Questore, of 331 Grant Ave.; Sridhar Ramaswamy of 4 MacKenzie Road; and Sondra Thompson, 111A White St.
The board indicated it will make a decision on the appointment at its May 12 meeting.
Pamela Clarke, former vice president of the Board of Education, was elected president at the reorganization meeting and Joseph Gaetano was elected vice president.
Clarke succeeds Mark Van Wagner, who served as president for the past year.
The board thanked the voters for passing the borough and Monmouth Regional High School budgets in the elections.
