Team USA/Youth is accepting soccer coaches’ nominations for youth soccer players for the USIS Memorial Youth Soccer Scholarships. The scholarships, ranging from $400 to $2,000, enable talented young soccer players an opportunity to compete internationally. To nominate players, coaches should go online to www.ussport.us/scholarships and enter their nomination. Players must have a birth year from 1984 to 1990. Nominated players are then required to complete an essay in order to be considered. Nominations will close Feb. 17 and awards announced Feb. 21. The scholarships are awarded in honor of servicemen and servicewomen who, because of their commitment to the armed forces, have had athletic careers deferred or ended. The scholarships are funded by gifts to the Team USA/Youth program and underwritten by United States International Sport, a nonprofit youth soccer development organization. Details of the Team USA/Youth programs are available at www.teamusayouth.org.
