      EDWARD E. ENGLISH JR., 61, of Long Branch died Dec. 20 at the Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in St. Louis, Mo., he resided in Neptune prior to moving to Long Branch 11 years ago. Mr. English was a civil employee at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown. He served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 29, Fort Monmouth, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2140, Long Branch. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosaland Rosenberg English, in 2001. He is survived by three sons, Edward Earl English III and Scott Marshall English, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and David G. English of Wrightstown; four sisters; and four grandchildren. A graveside service was at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus.

      ANN ELIZABETH "NAN" HAYNES, Red Bank and New York City, died Dec. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after a lengthy bout with cancer. Born in Portland, Conn., she was raised there and resided in Shrewsbury prior to moving to Red Bank. Mrs. Haynes was a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Rumson, for 25 years. Prior to that, she worked at several other local real estate firms, and taught at River Street School, Red Bank She was a member of the peer review board of the Monmouth County Board of Realtors. She was a communicant of The Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Her activities included time with her family and grandchildren, tennis, swimming, and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Haynes Sr. of Red Bank; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard A. and Laurie Haynes Jr. of San Diego, and Paul M. and Mary Haynes of Fair Haven; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and John Bunt of Fair Haven; her brother, Jack McGarry; and eight grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at The Church of the Nativity. Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics, 201 Rockingham Row, Princeton 08547.

      ROBERT A. MORGAN, 43, of Keansburg died Nov. 28 at home. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Keansburg. Mr. Morgan was a concierge at a cooperative building in New York City. Prior to that, he worked at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, and at Cafe Bar and Restaurant, Long Branch. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Politically active, he previously served as a councilman and deputy mayor for the Borough of Keansburg, commissioner for the Keansburg Municipal Utilities Authority, and was the Keansburg Democratic municipal chairman. He was also a current member of the Monmouth County Democratic Executive Committee, Keansburg Board of Health, Keansburg Recreation Committee, and the Save the Bay Committee. He served as a campaign manager in borough council elections, where he had been a campaign worker since his early teens. He was a delegate, shop steward and sergeant-at-arms for the International Service Employees Union Local 32. His volunteer activities included Ronald McDonald House and Clean Ocean Action. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Haviland Morgan; and two brothers, James Morgan and Sonny Morgan. He is survived by four brothers, Richard Morgan of Middletown, Dennis Morgan of California, Daniel Morgan of Pennsylvania, and Jack Morgan of New Jersey; five sisters, Cathy Quilty and Patricia Cryan, both of Florida, Elizabeth Liu and Lorraine Kearny, both of Long Branch, and Carol Parsons of Keansburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Ann’s Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 131 Bath Ave., Long Branch 07740.

      MARGARET TRODD HOYES, 81, of Middletown died Dec. 18 at St. Joseph’s Home for the Blind, Jersey City. Born in Jersey City, she had resided there, and in Tinton Falls, Matawan, and several other towns before moving to Middletown. Mrs. Hoyes was a clerical worker for the Internal Revenue Service, Newark, for several years, retiring 30 years ago. She was a volunteer and Eucharistic Minister at Jersey Shore Medical Center and the Medicenter, both Neptune; and a member of the Upper Room Spiritual Center. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

      PATRICIA PERLSWEIG, 75, of Hollywood, Fla., and Monmouth Beach, died Dec. 6 at home in Hollywood. She was born in the West End section of Long Branch. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Daniel Perlsweig; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Carolyn Perlsweig of Oceanport; her daughter and son-in-law, Judé and Mark Stomel of Mount Laurel; and three grandchildren.       MARTHA GALFY PERRETTI, 95, of Middletown died Dec. 11 at King James Care Center, Navesink section of Middletown. Born in Newark, she resided in Plainfield prior to moving to Long Branch 28 years ago. Mrs. Perretti was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Her memberships included the Oceanport Garden Club, Long Branch Senior Citizens, and the Broadway Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband, Pasquale M. Perretti, in 1984. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack Perretti and Jean Gavin of Winsted, Conn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Larry Lagan of Middletown; two granddaughters; and two grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.

      FLORENCE K. RUBINO SCARPINO, 82, of Oceanport died Nov. 30 at home. Born in Long Branch, Mrs. Scarpino was a lifelong resident of various shore towns. She was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Bifulco, in 2001; a brother, Frank Rubino; and a sister, Lena DePaola. Mrs. Scarpino is survived by her husband of 57 years, James A. Scarpino of Oceanport; her son, Charles J. Scarpino of Long Branch; her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Thomas Bifulco of Ocean Township; three brothers, Peter Rubino of West Long Branch, and John Rubino and Dominick Rubino Jr., both of Long Branch; three sisters, Frances Calabretta of West Long Branch, and Mary Sorrentino and Josephine De Fazio, both Long Branch; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Church, followed by entombment at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.

      DORIS H. DINGWELL SCHMIDT, 74, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Dec. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in the Middletown area for the past 50 years. She and her husband owned a local electronics business for more than 30 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Schmidt, in 1990; and her sister, Mary Sinilnikoff. She is survived by her son, Michael Schmidt of Little Silver; two grandchildren; and her niece and nephew.
