Troop 148 very much alive and well in Long Branch

Contrary to all rumors, innuendoes and lies circulating around town, Boy Scout Troop 148 — sponsored by the United Methodist Men of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church of Long Branch — is very much alive and functioning.

There are people in town who are trying very hard to inform anyone who is not informed that we do not exist. There could be nothing further from the truth.

We meet every Wednesday in the basement of the church from 7:30-9 p.m. We would invite anyone with a boy between age 11-18 who is interested in outdoor activities and wanting to learn about Scouts and the Scouting ideals to come and check us out.

We teach the ideals of the Scout law: to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

It is unfortunate some people resort to ideals other than those of Scouting to stress their unhappy, disgruntled attitudes.

We have a full calendar of activities from now through our exciting week of summer camp.

These activities include spring camporee, orienteering training, and white water rafting, plus our spring service project for our sponsoring organization.
