Marc Wallace of Little Silver, formerly of Red Bank Regional High School, won the men’s hammer throw at the Big East Track and Field Championships, held at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, on May 4 and 5. The Rutgers University, New Brunswick, senior threw a winning toss of 194-9 to break his school’s record in the event. Wallace also won the bronze medal in the hammer throw at the May 27 Penn Relays in Philadelphia with a toss of 185-1, which broke the 13-year-old school record.
In addition, Wallace beat a 9-year-old school record in the 35-pound weight toss with a distance of 59-11 at the IC4A Championships at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., on March 23.
Battle of Monmouth Jersey Kickers girls U15 (fall) soccer team will have tryouts on May 30 and June 6 at 6 p.m. in Freehold. The team is looking to add several experienced, dedicated players. The Kickers compete in MOSA and there is no residency requirement. Coach is former college player with 17 years coaching experience, and team is professionally trained. The Peninsula Eagles girls’ 1992-93 traveling soccer team will hold open tryouts on June 1 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Monmouth Park Fields in Oceanport.
