Woman robbed at night deposit box

EATONTOWN — A female employee of a woman’s clothing store in the Monmouth Mall was reportedly robbed while attempting to make a night deposit at the First Union Bank in the Pathmark Shopping Center on Route 36 at 9:56 p.m. on Jan. 30, police reported.

Police said that as the woman approached the deposit box, located outside the bank, two men wearing hooded sweatshirts came up behind her. The men grabbed the woman and took the night deposit bag from her hands.

The bag contained $350 cash and several checks, police said.

According to police, the suspects fled in an awaiting vehicle being driven by a third suspect. The vehicle was parked on the east side of the bank. The vehicle sped east on Route 36, they said.

Police said the vehicle is described as a white Chevrolet Malibu or a similar vehicle with tinted rear windows and chrome rimmed wheels.

The Eatontown Police Department is asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact Detective Daniel Guthrie or Detective Sgt. Thomas Clayton at (732) 389-7644 or (732) 542-0100.
