Truck accident occurs at linen plant

LONG BRANCH — A truck driver from Elizabeth died while pinned between two trucks, said local authorities.

Alejandro Fuentes, 30, an employee of North American Linen, Branchport Avenue, formerly known as Garden State Towel, was found pinned between two trucks, by another employee Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

"The driver died of suffocation," said Lt. Patrick Joyce.

Authorities said that Fuentes, who drove a 2000 Mitsubishi 16-foot box truck, had returned from a linen delivery route in Manhattan, dropping off the dirty linen at the front of the plant on Branchport Avenue. He then drove to the loading dock on Washington Street to park the vehicle, where the accident happened.

According to Joyce, Fuentes had parked his truck on a loading dock ramp when it rolled approximately 15 feet at an angle, pinning Fuentes into another truck.

Fuentes was found deceased an hour later by an employee of the plant, noted Joyce.

The truck will be inspected by the N.J. State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit to determine why the truck rolled.
