Paskin, Woolley will leave West Long Branch the way it is
We can count on the West Long Branch Democrats to provide a laugh or two at election time. Joe DeLisa says it’s only fair to have a 3-3 division on Borough Council.
With the Democratic mayor breaking the tie, that would give the Democrats control of 100 percent of the appointments. With the current 4-2 condition, appointments are split about 50-50.
Bill Deisinger says "protecting the environment and preserving open space in the borough is a prime concern." That sounds nice, but Deisinger is obviously no student of history. West Long Branch has approximately 80 acres of open space — an excellent record for a borough of our size.
Not one acre was purchased by a Democratic council. Every plot we have was acquired when Republicans were in the majority on council. The only contribution of a Democrat majority was to vote down the acquisition of a property Mayor Henry Shaheen had negotiated and proposed to council.
If you like West Long Branch the way it is, you’d better vote for Barbara Esposito Paskin and Joseph Woolley on Nov. 6.
