Animal registry safeguards the community
     A s someone who deals with dozens of cruelty-toanimals cases every week, I applaud those working to establish an online animal abuser registry in New York. Exposing and remembering people who hurt animals will better guarantee our communities’ safety.

     I n a recent letter, “Resident sees racism in candidate’s remarks” (Feb. 2), Avery Grant accused Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich of “rednecked racism” for comments made by Gingrich proposing “urban poor kids be hired as janitor aides in schools.”
